Small girls patiently wait for a playtime activity to begin.

On December 1, 2008, there was an article written by Mr. Eric Lolis, a contributing writer for Times Picayune, on Haitian relief which brought an outpouring of support from the New Orleans community.

"I was overwhelmed due to the lack of a place to receive these donations. With the assistance of Mr. Eric Lolis, the Community Book Center, Mama Jennifer, and Vera Warren-William, the mission was started. The 7th Ward community center let us receive clothing, toiletries, shoes and other goods, while the Community Book Center received the monetary donations. Pastor Mel Jones let some of the gentlemen from his program volunteer to help us divide and pack the goods ready for shipping. Other volunteers from the 7th Ward neighborhood and personal friends joined us for the cause. It was awesome. No words can express the love and support that we received from the New Orleans community. There is not enough I can say to thank them for their services. " Eric Lolis

The project aimed to distribute clothing, toiletries and food to needy families, orphanages, and children who live on the street in Port- Au- Prince on Christmas Day. Because of the tremendous cost of freight, meal distribution was cut short. We still managed to serve approximately 1,500 people lunch and distributed clothing and toiletries to 2000 people. The recipient was very grateful to the people of New Orleans. A report will be posted at the Community Book Center for any donors who wish to see it along with photos.

We would like to thank everybody who has contributed and continue to support Hope for Haitian Children Foundation, which is nonprofit organization.  We currently have a variety of needed supplies which are ready to ship immediately. However, we are still collecting supplies and financial donations which will still be needed for a long time to come.

Thank you,

Marie Jose Poux, Director
